The scent
Steam-distilled from the leaves of sweet basil, a soft-leaved herb with a bright green scent. It opens green and peppery-sweet, with a light aniseed note that softens into a warm, herbal finish as it settles.
It sits well beside lavender or bergamot, and a little cedarwood gives it a woodier base. A fresh, green note for a sunny windowsill in spring, beside a pot of flowers.
