The scent
Steam-distilled from the leaves of thyme, a low, woody herb with tiny leaves and small lilac flowers. It is warm and herbaceous, with a sharp, spicy edge and a faint floral note.
It sits well beside lavender or cedarwood, and bergamot softens its edges with a brighter citrus note. A bold green note for a sunny windowsill, beside a row of flowering pots in spring.
